More and more frequently I see investigators going with a basic HD camera and flashlight setup. I've always been a fan of this as it's more believable. Nightvision and IR images are immediately altered so evidence gathered from their images are immediately suspect. With a camera and flashlight you'll be able to capture anything that appears that the client would have been able to see in the first place.

It makes sense that it would be phased out. I mean it's cool to see things through that filter because it looks creepy but it's so distorted that you can't completely trust it.
